“But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.” 1 John 2:27
“Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.” Romans 8:7
“Hearken unto me, ye that know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law; fear ye not the reproach of men, neither be ye afraid of their revilings.” Isaiah 51:7
“I, even I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou shouldest be afraid of a man that shall die, and of the son of man which shall be made as grass;” Isaiah 51:12
“Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth.” Romans 8:33
The truth that all these verses point to (and it is carried out if you take them in context) is this: You do not need man for anything when you have the anointing – after Jesus baptises you with fire you will need no man to teach you anything. Therefore any religious organisation that seeks to teach you the way is false and is Babylon! All they can give you are idols!
Babylon is a tricksy beast; it lives off the carnal mind.
What is the defining feature of the carnal mind? Idolatry.
At work today I was imagining various ways I could convince a certain person that they were in Babylon, that I had the anointing and so on. In the midst of these vain day-dreams I realized that what was fuelling them was my desire for his approval.
I was seeking in my mind for his justification.
Even though I know he is wrong I was idolizing him!
Do you see how subtle and wicked the carnal mind is? Oh and do not forget vain. Even if I managed to convince… What then? What could I possibly do after hearing him say “You’re right” that I couldn’t do before?
God gives you everything and asks for nothing; Idols give you nothing but ask for everything.
Babylon’s all about idolatry. That is Babylon’s chief cornerstone.
In the past they used to use molten images and statues but now a lot of people have wised up to this. You tell average Joe Bloggs to bow before a lump of wood and he’ll call you a twat.
So Babylon has wised up. It uses people instead and it calls these people pastors.
Now I’m not saying that the function of pastor (that is shepherd) is not active in the real Ekklesia. It is; but a good shepherd is one who quickly leads people to the Lamb. A good pastor is one who rapidly gives up his role. A good pastor is like a good sign-post; he becomes useless very quickly. He definitely doesn’t hang around for years feeding off the flock!
